Sarah Ransome is a South African-born survivor, author, and advocate who became one of Jeffrey Epstein’s most outspoken accusers. Her memoir and testimony provide firsthand documentation of the Epstein–Maxwell trafficking network and its lasting impact on survivors.
Ransome came to New York at age 22 in 2006, seeking to start her life over after an abusive relationship. She hoped to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and work in the fashion industry.
Soon after arriving, she met Natalya Malyshev, an Epstein-Maxwell recruiter, in a club. Malyshev befriended her and arranged a meeting with Jeffrey Epstein, describing him as a kind philanthropist who could help her get into FIT and provide much-needed support.
Over the next seven to eight months, Ransome was subjected to repeated sexual abuse, sometimes multiple times per day, at Epstein's New York mansion and on Little St. James island in the US Virgin Islands.
They made conditional promises of FIT admission while simultaneously subjecting her to demeaning treatment—calling her a "piglet," demanding she lose 30 pounds, placing her on a strict Atkins diet, and sending her to a psychiatrist who prescribed antidepressants that caused weight gain. The application was never submitted.
During one visit to the island, the abuse became so horrific that Ransome attempted to escape by trying to jump off a cliff into shark-infested waters. She was caught by Maxwell and others moments before jumping.

In 2007, Ransome managed to escape by fleeing to the UK. She subsequently attempted suicide twice as a result of the trafficking and trauma.
The long-term psychological effects have been severe and ongoing. Ransome experiences flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, dramatic mood changes, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and tendencies to self-harm. She has struggled with substance abuse and attends AA meetings. She has not married or had children—something she always wished for—and has difficulty forming relationships due to lasting fear and trauma.
In 2021, Ransome published her memoir Silenced No More: Surviving My Journey to Hell and Back, providing a detailed first-person account of her experiences and the methods used by the Epstein-Maxwell network to target, groom, and control vulnerable young women.
