Born in 1947 in the Baltic region, Boris Birshtein is a former KGB officer who emigrated to Israel in 1979. Like Grigory Luchansky, Birshtein leveraged his intelligence background and foreign trade experience to establish extensive business networks abroad.
Seabeco Group Operations
After immigration, Birshtein founded Seabeco Group, an international network of companies with official operations in oil, gold, diamonds, and chemical products. From 1992 to 1999, Seabeco maintained at least one subsidiary in Switzerland. The group came under suspicion by multiple security services for involvement in fraud and state asset stripping.
Political Connections
Birshtein cultivated deep relationships with post-Soviet political leadership, including Ukrainian presidents Kravchuk and Kuchma, and Moldovan ex-President Snegur. He maintained ongoing contacts with both Russian and Israeli security services.
